If Not If – Electricity

Graeme Ginsberg’s second full‑length release under his If Not If banner arrived in late June, the follow up to 2023’s Structure. Across ten tracks, including the three‑part centrepiece Performance, Electricity confirms Graeme as a multi‑instrumentalist whose influences run deep into…

The Bardic Depths – Some Things Are Worth Remembering

In a world of playlists, where around 41% of people in UK haven’t listened to a full album for over a year, it’s easy to forget that sequencing a record is an artform in itself. Genesis always struck me as…

Blindead 23 – Deuterium

Blindead 23 are a Polish band conjured from the ashes of Blindead, who it seems have gone their separate ways. Mateusz Smierzchalski (guitar) and Patryk Zwoliński (vocals) have regrouped however, and along with Roger Öjersson (ex-Katatonia: guitars, keys) and Pawal…

Lunatic Soul – Transition II

Transition II is the first release from Lunatic Soul since Mariusz Duda announced his shock departure from Riverside on 23rd April 2026 after 25 years with the Polish band. It is clear that Duda is determined to clearly mark this…

Pink Floyd – Live From The Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26th, 1975

Recently, two ‘new’ Pink Floyd albums have appeared: the 8‑Tracks studio compilation, a Steven Wilson remix, and Live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26th, 1975, likewise edited by the multi‑talented Wilson. Strictly speaking, the live recording also surfaced…

Haken – In A Fever Dream [EP]

I’ve heard it often been said, that when a band release a live album, that it marks the end of a chapter in their career. That it’s an audio statement of “this is where we got to, and the next…

Gentle Giant – In A Glass House (Remixed & Remastered)

Back in June, I was mindlessly doomscrolling when an advert with music started playing. Because the algorithm knows me uncannily well, it was an advert for a new Gentle Giant reissue. “Big whoop,” I thought, as the sound of breaking…

Jordsjø – Pestkrønikene

I first encountered Jordsjø in 2018 when I reviewed Jord their first CD release, and was immediately hooked. This then lead to me reviewing a further four albums, each reinforcing the sense of a band steadily refining its craft. I…

Gary Boyle – Light Again: The Recordings 1977-1978 (2CD Edition)

Instrumental jazz fusion: I happen to love it. The rip-roaring showcase of technical musicianship, precision and blurring the lines between improvisation and structured composition. It’s all good stuff, especially when delivered through familiar warm, crisp, 70s-era timbres as it is…

Status Quo – The Early Years Volume 2 [1970-1972] (5CD Boxset)

Status Quo’s history stretches back to the early Sixties, a long arc marked by shifts in fashion and musical identity. For many listeners, myself included, the run from Piledriver (1972) through Blue for You (1976) represents their peak years, obviously…
