21/10/2020: F2 Music Ltd Announce New Album CBF10 from Multi Story for October 2020

F2 Music Ltd have announced the forthcoming release of CBF10, the new album from Multi Story, scheduled for 26th October 2020.

The band originally formed in the early 1980’s. Following a session recorded for Tommy Vance’s Radio One Rock Show in 1984, the band signed with Heavy Metal Records (the new FM label), and released their debut album East West, recorded in Monmouth’s famous Rockfield Studios, in 1985. The band supported Magnum on their On A Storyteller’s Night tour of 20 dates throughout the UK, leading to headline gigs at the Marquee Club, and TV appearances. The band’s second album Through Your Eyes was released in 1987 with Grantley Nicholas on vocals (who later went on to form Feeder), following the departure of original vocalist Paul Ford. The band subsequently parted company with the FM label, following the album’s release.

Many years later, writing partners Rob Wilsher (founder member and keyboard player) and Paul Ford reunited and started working on new material as a duo. It was reaching completion when Rob met brothers Jordan Neale and Aedan Neale on another music project, which sparked the idea of re-working the material to accommodate a full band and bring Multi Story back to life with a new line up.

The result was their first album in 29 years – 2016’s Crimson Stone, which the band regarded as a bridging album between their roots and more contemporary influences. Their subsequent double live album, Live at Acapela in 2017, then went on to showcase a breadth of music from their studio albums to a very enthusiastic audience in that live and very intimate setting, Acapela Studio.

CBF10 is Multi Story’s new studio album and features a number of special guests. CBF10 is not a concept album but there are subtle threads and connections across the songs that listeners may spot. The release comes in a digipak with 24 page booklet.

16/10/2020: Wardruna release video for title track from upcoming album, Kvitravn

Wardruna today shares the title track, and pinnacle moment of their upcoming album, Kvitravn (meaning White Raven). A music video produced by Ragnarok Films reveals a powerful narrative centered around this sacred, elusive creature, and namesake of the album.

Dramatic scenery unfolds from a bird’s eye perspective, and enchanting images of this rare animal are captured, as we follow Wardruna founder Einar Selvik and vocalist Lindy Fay-Hella through the wilderness. As the video unfolds, a question arises, is this sighting only good fortune, or is it destiny?

About the song “Kvitravn”, Wardruna founder Einar Selvik states, “I am very excited to finally share this song with you. “Kvitravn” is a song that explores traditions of animal-guides and the symbolism and legends of sacred white animals found in Nordic- and other cultures all over the world. These highly regarded ghostly creatures, whether a raven, snake, bear, moose, reindeer, elephant or lion – are in animist traditions seen as prophetic, divine messengers, and guardians representing renewal, purity and a bridge between worlds.”

Einar Selvik continues, “Being fully aware of how rare it is to come across white ravens, we knew from the start that this would be an ambitious and challenging task to pull off. However, fate seemed to be on our side in this and the “impossible” piece of the puzzle fell into place as if gifted from the divine.”

The video for “Kvitravn” was shot in various locations in Norway and Russia, by Ragnarok Film, the same team responsible for the previous Wardruna video, for stand-alone single “Lyfjaberg”, made during lockdown. This track does not appear on the album.

The full album, Kvitravn, is set for worldwide release on 22nd January 2021 and can be pre-ordered in various formats and bundles HERE

“It has become obvious that there was no way that this tour could go ahead given the current circumstances which I’m sad to say don’t look like they will be getting any better anytime soon.”

“I’m not willing to risk either the health of fans or local teams at the venues nor the health of my own band and crew and it leaves me no other option than to announce that this tour will not be going ahead.”

The familiar personal narratives with which we are so strongly identified are here again, this time set in a context defined by the tragedy of, and fallout from, a faraway conflict.

14/10/2020: Kevin Godley releases new video from forthcoming solo album Muscle Memory

Kevin Godley releases, Muscle Memory, his first solo album on 17th December 2020. The album originates from an invitation Godley posted on the site PledgeMusic: “Write and record with me.” PledgeMusic was a platform for musicians to connect directly with fans who could pay for music in advance to support the creation of albums. Kevin’s project took the potential of this remote, socially distanced collaboration further. The video for Expecting a Message is, in Kevin Godley’s words, “…as DIY as it gets.”

Expanding on the DIY video Kevin continues: “This is as DIY as it gets. No film crew, no editor, no budget. The plan was to make a film, stream of consciousness style, doing everything myself, like I’m recording music. Improvise, throw stuff in and make sense of it later and I did…all except the last bit. I guess it’s a performance film of sorts, all shot within a hundred yard radius of home and, at the risk of this sounding like a commercial, it would’ve been impossible without my iPhone X, Adobe Premier Pro and Wondershare Filmora editing software and two supremely cool apps, GlitchCam and EFEKT. Not sure if it’s the message I was expecting though.”

The album marks Kevin’s first time fronting a project. His lyricism is cutting, political and provides a mood similar to film dialogue over classic pop lyricism. Gun control, societal unrest, racism and questions regarding political correctness make for some of the most striking lyrical content likely heard on an alternative pop record. This is a dark record from someone not known for dark themes.

The show at The London Palladium fully complies with the Government’s current Coronavirus and social distancing guidelines. Across the theatre the seating has been reconfigured to ensure that audience bubbles are seated at least 1m apart. Next year’s re-scheduled show dates – in November & December 2021 – will follow on from the 2019 sell-out Christmas tour, and will see Rick embark on another festive foray around the UK, visiting some of the cities he didn’t get to the first time around. The Even Grumpier Old Christmas Show 16-date UK tour will kick off in Basingstoke on 28 November 2021 before visiting Leicester, Bexhill, High Wycombe, Dorking, Cambridge, Birmingham, Southampton, Salisbury, Southend, Manchester, Gateshead, Middlesbrough, Edinburgh, Bradford and finishing at Hull’s City Hall on 21 December 2021.

13/10/2020: The Pineapple Thief to Release The Soord Sessions Volume 4

Following the release of their new album Versions Of The Truth last month on Kscope, The Pineapple Thief, led by Bruce Soord and also featuring drummer Gavin Harrison (King Crimson/Porcupine Tree) have now announced a new special vinyl release called The Soord Sessions Volume 4. This new live acoustic album is taken from one of Bruce Soord’s recent lockdown session performances. For a taster, check out the video for ‘Demons’ below;

The release of Versions Of The Truth was due to be followed by an extensive live tour which sadly due to the current climate had to be postponed until 2021. Soord, not wanting to disappoint fans, planned to announce an acoustic live stream. “I have no idea why I did it. Maybe it was because I wanted to give people something to take their minds off things, or maybe it was the Duvel beer I was enjoying at the time talking. Either way, as I had never done a live stream before, I had no idea how I was going to do it, let alone what I was going to play!”

Everything worked out, the acoustic session happened, and the solo streamed performances were a huge success. “I was pleasantly surprised how many people came to join me. It honestly felt like everyone was in the room with me. Joining in and having a bit of fun, from wherever in the world they were.” Over the summer, Soord performed four live streamed sessions, and this release – The Soord Sessions Volume 4, is that last of those sessions. Featured on the vinyl only release are two tracks from Versions Of The Truth and some classic tracks from The Pineapple Thief that hadn’t been played live for many years. Bruce adds “To spice things up, I used my looper pedal to allow me to jam with myself. It was surprisingly easy to strip the songs down to just me and my guitars but getting it right live is another matter!”
The Soord Sessions Volume 4 will be released as an exclusive LP release presented on 180g dark green vinyl, with a printed inner bag featuring photos from the session and forward by Bruce Soord. Pre-Orders Available Now

08/10/2020: Yes release live album, rescheduled tour dates and marking John Lennon’s 80th Birthday

Yes are to release a new live album at the end of October and have rescheduled their Album Series concert tour for 2021 in the wake of dates cancelled earlier this year. They have also released a single version of John Lennon’s classic Imagine to mark the occasion of John Lennon’s 80th birthday.

9th October 2020 would have been Lennon’s 80th birthday. As one of the creative forces in The Beatles, John Lennon remains one of the most influential musicians of all time and Imagine is one his best-loved songs. It was recorded in May 1971, after The Beatles’ split, in Lennon’s studio at his home in Berkshire and featured soon-to-be Yes drummer Alan White who was a member of Lennon’s Plastic Ono Band ensemble.

The Plastic Ono Band L-R Klaus Voorman, Alan White, Yoko Ono, John Lennon & Eric Clapton

On it’s release Imagine peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard chart, although it was not released as a single in the UK until 1975, reaching number 6 on the singles’ chart. Following Lennon’s death, in December 1980, Imagine was reissued, topping the UK chart, and has been covered by over 200 artists.

Lennon spotted Alan White playing drums with his band Griffin in a London club and invited him to join the Plastic Ono Band for the Live Peace concert in Toronto in 1969, alongside Yoko Ono, Klaus Voorman and Eric Clapton. White played drums on Lennon’s single Instant Karma and George Harrison’s album All Things Must Pass before Lennon invited him to play on Imagine.

Yes have released Imagine as a single through BMG Records. The track was recorded at the Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas during the encore on the final night of their 2019 US Royal Affair Tour and will be included on The Royal Affair Tour Live From Vegas album due for release on 30th October 2020.

08/10/2020: Francis Roberts to Release New Album Story From Another Time

Known for his work in Old Man Wizard and King Gorm, producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Francis Roberts will release his new album Story From Another Time on 6th November 2020 in digital and cassette formats. The two tracks, each over eighteen minutes long, are described as a cinematic “film score for your imagination.”

Roberts comments, “I wrote and recorded this a few months ago, inspired by additional material and concepts that didn’t make it into my score for a portion of the forthcoming film The Spine of Night. I was so pleased with the result that I decided I had to let it sit while I planned a more proper release. I did this to push the limits of my ability to compose campy 1970s style cinematic music. It’s one of my favorite recordings I’ve created.

He continues: “I used pretty much all of my synthesizers and samplers to record it, with the basis of side one being a heavily edited and resampled guitar improvisation and the basis of side two being seemingly endless string loops and bizarre Berlin school style sequences. The album artwork is from a painting called Slayer of the Old Wyrm by Valin Mattheis, one of my favorite currently active artists (whose work you may recognize from my releases with Old Man Wizard). The album will be available digitally and as a very limited cassette (33 copies).

06/10/2020: Funding Opens for the Completion of Krautrock 2

Krautrock (Part 2) is nearing completion, but the producers still need help financing the final stages. You may already be familiar their work as part of the Romantic Series of progrockumentaries, such as Romantic Warriors I (2010, covering prog on the US East coast), II: About Rock In Opposition(2012), III: Canterbury Tales (2015, Canterbury scene), and IV: Krautrock part 1.

Film producers Adele Schmidt and José Zegarra Holder are attempting to release the second part of the Krautrock Trilogy, which focuses on the German experimental, psychedelic and electronic rock scene that rose to prominence in the late 1960s and 70s, and consists of three feature-length documentaries divided by the genre’s core epicentres. Part one, which is currently screening in theatres throughout Germany, focused on bands from the Cologne, Düsseldorf and Hamburg regions, with part two (release date planned for January 2021) covering bands from Southern Germany, and part 3 concentrating on bands from the Berlin scene.

Among the musicians of the Krautrock Scene (that were active in the 70s), the following have been interviewed for KRAUTROCK 2:

The producers are reaching out to ask for support to push this feature film over the finish line.

06/10/2020: McStine & Minnemann Announce their Sophomore Album, II

Randy McStine and Marco Minnemann have announced their sophomore album, II, three months after the independent release of their self-titled debut.  The two multi-instrumentalists established the band in March, then released their debut album in July. The second album will be released on 4th December 2020 and can be pre-ordered now on CD and Digital on Bandcamp at

The duo’s description of the album can be viewed as follows.
1. There are 16 tracks on it.
2. It’s about ten minutes longer than our first album.
3. Stylistically, “II” locks in all of the elements explored in our debut, but significantly expands on them. Hard Rock, Art Pop, Thrash Metal, Progressive Rock, Folk Rock, Ambient, Noise, Punk, Funk, Spaghetti Western-style Film Music, Blues Rock, Jazz/Rock…
4. The two of us have written, produced, and performed everything on the record, with the exception of a song called “Big Wave,” which was co-produced by Tim Palmer (Robert Plant, U2). Tim added additional sprinkles of guitar, keyboards, and percussion to the song, making him the only additional musician on the album.
5. Forrester Savell (Karnivool, SikTh) is handling mixing and mastering duties for us again, with Tim Palmer mixing two songs; “Big Wave” and the album intro, “Love Before Algorithms.”
6. We started writing and recording “II” while our first album was being mixed, so none of the songs are leftovers from those sessions.
7. Pre-orders for “II” opened on Friday, October 2nd, exclusively at
8. McStine & Minnemann II pre-orders are available for CD and download. CD copies will be signed by both of us. All supporters of the CD will also receive weekly updates, where we’ll be discussing the origins of each song on the record.
9. “II” will be released for download and streaming (only on Bandcamp) on Friday, December 4th. CD copies will ship at that time.
10. One of the reasons we’ve been able to offer “II” in such a timely manner is due to your overwhelmingly positive support towards our first one. It’s incredibly gratifying to see that our music is connecting with so many people during these challenging times, and we thank you for encouraging us to continue.

05/10/2020: Crooked Mouth release first music from new studio album.

Edinburgh based Crooked Mouth have released a new track, Astronaut, which can be found in all the usual internet places, including Spotify and YouTube. The track is expected to appear on the planned fourth album, Lost Time, which will be the band’s first full release since 2015’s One Bright Midnight.

Astronaut features most of the usual Crooked Mouth suspects along with new boy Lewis Moore on vocals. Writer/guitarist Ken Campbell comments: ‘I grew up watching the Apollo moonshots and, for many of that generation, the astronauts were real heroes, almost superhuman. However, the idea of ‘heroes’ has a limited shelf life and over time we see that, really, there are no supermen – only us. Astronaut is reminding us not to put too much store in other people’s ideas of who and what to follow.’

Further tracks from the new album and a release date will be announced on the official website.
