30/09/16: Jean-Michel Jarre announces Oxygene 3 release
To celebrate the release of Jean-Michel Jarre‘s Oxygene album some forty years ago, comes the announcement that a new album, Oxygene 3 will be released on 2nd December 2016.
Jean-Michel Jarre comments:
December 2nd 1976 saw the release of Oxygene 1, which I can say changed my life !
“I don’t necessarily like anniversaries that much… But when I was recording Electronica, two years ago, I did a piece of music (today Oxygene 19) that made me think about what Oxygene could be if I was composing it today. Then I took the 40th anniversary of the first album as a deadline to push myself to see if I could compose this new chapter in six weeks, just like I did for the first one: probably to avoid thinking too much about, whether it was a good idea or not, and also to record everything in one go… The idea was not to copy the first album, but rather keeping the dogma of embarking listeners on a journey from beginning to end with different chapters, all linked to each other.”

23/09/16: Riverside to continue as a trio
Poland’s Riverside have issued a statement regarding the future of the band…
“We have decided that we are not going to do a casting for a new guitarist. Thus we have ceased to be a quartet and have become a trio. In this line-up we will prepare our new studio album. Both in the recording studio and on tour – if we get back to touring – we will be playing with session guitarists, who are our friends, whom we know and like. But the line-up of Riverside will be as shown in the picture.
Yes, we do realise that this is not going to be the same band. We know that for many of you the story of Riverside ends here, this year, and that “Eye of the Soundscape” might be the last Riverside album you’ll buy. We know that some of you can’t imagine this band without the characteristic guitar of Piotr Grudzinski and for you Riverside has ceased to exist. But our story is not over yet; with a flaw, with a scar, with a wealth of new experiences, we have decided to go on.”
“The river will never be the same again but it doesn’t mean it has to stop flowing.”
The full statement can be read HERE
Last month the band announced the release a new album, a transitional offering made up from songs taken from the years 2007 to 2015, as well as new tracks recorded at the beginning of 2016. Eye Of The Soundscape will be released through InsideOut Music on 21st October 2016.

The Never Should Have Sent You Roses is the second track to be taken from Ray Wilson‘s sixth studio album Makes Me Feel Like Home which is scheduled for release on 7th October 2016. This release comes hot on the heels of Song For A Friend, an acoustic album, released earlier this year…
Makes Me Think Of Home is a mix of pop, rock and prog which showcases Ray’s remarkable voice. The title track sees Ray looking back to his days living in Scotland, a country he left after finding love with a Polish dancer. He moved to Poznan 8 years ago, and in this ambitious and very moving track he reflects on his years trying to find peace and happiness in Edinburgh.
Reflecting on his latest work, Ray says, “Makes Me Think of Home encompasses the joy of freedom we have all come to enjoy and perhaps take for granted as well as the fear of solitude. It highlights the many imperfections that make us special and reminds us not to fear them, but to embrace them. In the words of Leonard Cohen. “There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in”.

09/09/16: Two more departures from The Enid camp
Last week it was announced that Joe Payne and The Enid had parted company – details of which can be found further down this page. In a further statement it has ben revealed that both Max Read and Dave Storey will also be leaving the band. Robert John Godfrey posted the following…
“Despite enjoying creating music I’ve never particularly enjoyed performing. It is not a natural thing for me and “being a star” is not something to which I have ever aspired. My role in The Enid was always as a helping hand and I now feel that the boys can manage very well without me. I will be performing in the remaining shows this year to give the band time to adjust to playing without me.
The love and support I have been shown over the years has meant a tremendous amount to me and has made my decision to leave a very tough one indeed, but I must now follow my heart. I have the utmost confidence in the band and will remain living at Enid HQ to give them any help and support that they may require over the coming months and years”.
DOMINIC TOFIELD & DAVE STOREY: “Dominic was due to take over from Dave, at the end of the year. Unfortunately, Dave’s planned hip operation was rescheduled, leaving him unable to do the gigs planned. Dom Tofield is now The Enid’s drummer.”
RJG: “My personal goal is to help The Enid find the next generation of music fans who are passionate about change and could relate to The Enid as it goes forward with its plans.
I still seem to have all my marbles. I don’t quite know what is going on with my Alzheimer’s diagnosis. I haven’t noticed much change and nor has anyone else. I’ve managed to lose lots of weight, stop smoking (everything) and I am working hard on music (piano concerto) and helping with the shape of things to come.”
The scheduled shows for later this month will go ahead as planned – visit the TPA Gig Guide for the dates.

Driven by its gentle, lush and shimmering rendition of melancholy it would take you for a waltz daydreaming of the past, longing for the happiest times of your life, only to find that when the dance is over, emptiness has filled another chamber of your heart. Both Jonas and Lasse enhanced these ideas into beautifully told lyrics and a simple, but very touching video.”
Katatonia will be touring Europe starting on 22nd September 2016 at The Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria before heading out on “The Fallen Hearts of Europe” tour which will be followed up by a trip to Australia for shows in December. Support for the tour will be Agent Fresco and Vola. CLICK HERE for a full list of upcoming concerts.

07/09/16: TPT’s Bruce Soord launches acoustic version of Tear You Up
The Pineapple Thief has launched a clip of front man Bruce Soord performing an acoustic version of “Tear You Up” taken from their recently released new album Your Wilderness.
“People always ask me how I write songs and I always say the same thing – with my acoustic guitar. I thought taking one of the heavier tracks on the album and giving it the ‘singer songwriter’ treatment would be a nice way of showing this. It was also a lot of fun to do, although the sigh at the end, as I played it live in the studio, is a result of it taking quite a few takes to get right!” Bruce Soord

06/09/16: Jon Anderson says Yes ‘Union’ on the cards for the band’s 50th anniversary
Eon Music reveal that Jon Anderson and former Yes band members may reunite to celebrate their 50th Anniversary in 2018…
“Jon Anderson has exclusively revealed that a ‘Union’ with his former Yes band mates could be on the cards in the lead up to the band’s 50th anniversary. Anderson, who fronted the iconic outfit for almost four decades, made the revelation while speaking to eonmusic at the Progressive Music Awards, which were held in London on Thursday night (1st September).”
When questioned on whether a ‘Union’ bringing together ARW with the current Yes line-up was possible – in reference to a similar grouping that saw two differing line-ups of the band unite in the early-1990s’ – the singer was emphatic; “You never know, you never know”, he said candidly, before elaborating: “There’s the idea, if we get welcomed into the [Rock And Roll] Hall Of Fame on our 50th year, which is 2018, that’s when we’ll all get together. There’ll be about twenty of us on stage. It would be cool!”

05/09/16: John Wesley releases second video from forthcoming album
John Wesley will release his forthcoming eighth studio album a way you’ll never be on 7th October 2016 through the InsideOut Music label. Following on from the recent launch of the track by the light of a sun, is the release of the atmospheric to outrun the light.
Speaking of the track, Jen Wesley comments: “The lyrics in this song try and touch upon that moment when you know your life is going to change forever and there is nothing you can do about it. You begin to question your own identity. You look back on all the years invested and fear that everything you thought you knew, was wrong to begin with. You wonder if perhaps, you have, “outrun the light”.”

04/09/16: Opeth reveal Will O The Wisp video
At the beginning of August Opeth premiered the title track from their forthcoming, twelfth album, Sorceress, which is scheduled for release on 30th September 2016 via the band’s imprint label Moderbolaget Records through Nuclear Blast. The follow-up video release, Will O The Wisp, shows a different side to the new album…
Mikael Åkerfeldt comments on the latest release: “I find it difficult to understand that we’ve been going on for 26 years, let alone that we’ve made 12 records now, all of which I am very proud of. ”Sorceress” is no exception. I love this album, as does the whole band. I wrote the music during 5-6 months and we spent only 12 days recording it at Rockfield studios in Wales. I find that once again we’ve taken a step forward. Or sideways, Or backwards. Somewhere!? It’s different! It’s extremely diverse…”
Opeth will be making a number of festival appearances, touring the US & Canada during late September and October, before heading to Europe in November. All tour dates can be found HERE.
02/09/16: The Enid and Joe Payne part company
The Enid announce the departure of Joe Payne – the following appeared on the band’s website:
We are delighted with the three astonishing records we made together and we wish Joe all the best for the future.
But now it is time for something darker, heavier, more extreme and relevant to an impending tomorrow. The success of The Enid has always been the capacity for reinvention. Please wait for us whilst we grow our new wings and learn to fly all over again with a shockingly new album on the drawing board.
In the meantime, we have a roof to keep over our heads. The tremendous response to the “In The Region Of The Summer Stars” tour during the summer has inspired us to extend the shows throughout the autumn.
As for the future? A new chapter is being written, ablaze with the fires of change. An exciting journey is ahead of us, and with your love and support, The Enid will continue to do what it does best: progress!”
