31/07/14: Maschine announce the departure of Georgia Lewis (Keyboards & Vocals) to work more within the folk music circles. Her replacement comes in the form of Belgian musician Marie-Eve De Gaultier who appeared on the band’s debut album, Rubidium.
“I’m really honoured to join Maschine, this enables me to really push my musical boundaries alongside such great musicians. I’ve been a fan of the music since the beginning and can’t wait to be a part of the band’s next chapter.” Marie-Eve.

28/07/14: Threshold, who earlier this month released details of their forthcoming album For The Journey, which is scheduled for release on 19th September (EU), 22nd September (UK) and 30th September (US) via Nuclear Blast, have announced a series of European shows – including two UK dates. 27/07/14: Fairport’s Cropredy Convention 2014 has now completely SOLD OUT! although those still wishing to buy tickets should check the Talkawhile website for cancellations. Visit the TPA Festival Page for a run down of the performers and times.
26/07/14: Queen premiere Stone Cold Crazy as a taster for the Live At The Rainbow ‘74 DVD, due out on 8th September. Full track listing can be found in the TPA News HERE
25/07/14: Ahead of their 20th anniversary and as work begins on the new Arena album, The Unquiet Sky, it is revealed that John Jowitt is to leave the band by mutual consent. John, who has been with the band almost since its conception, will not be involved in the recording of the new album or plans for next year’s extensive touring schedule.
In a brief statement from Arena: “Due to time pressure and numerous commitments, we are sad to announce we will be parting ways with John. This is a mutual decision, and we’d like to wish John good luck with his future projects, and say thanks again for all his work with Arena.”
25/07/14: …the rumours are over and both Jon Anderson & Jean-Luc Ponty have confirmed the Anderson Ponty Band – who will release an album early next year – and play their first show in September this year. Read More HERE on TPA.
25/07/14: To mark their fortieth anniversary Japan’s progressive jazz rock/fusion ensemble Kenso are to release a new studio CD, Uchi Naru Koe Ni Kaiki Seyo. The band’s tenth studio album was released on 23rd July in Japan and will be available world-wide from 4th August 2014. Track listing and album artwork can be found HERE on TPA.

24/07/14: Enchant return after a ten year absence with a new studio album scheduled for release at the end of September. The Great Divide will be the bands eight studio album and is scheduled for release through the InsideOut Music label. The current line-up features Ted Leonard (Vocals) Douglas Ott (Guitars & Backing Vocals), Ed Platt (Bass), Bill Jenkins (Keyboards) and Sean Flanegan (Drums).
On the new album Douglas Ott commented: “Well it’s finally here folks! There was a time when I was unsure of ENCHANT’s future but fear not! We’ve made another album after 10 years and we are very excited and proud of this endeavor! Our new album is called The Great Divide and we can’t wait for you to hear it! 9 brand new ENCHANT tracks, including 1 instrumental. Classic ENCHANT but with a bunch of new twists and turns! Long time in the making but it is surely worth the wait! Coming out late September, so be sure to check it out!”
24/07/14: Dave Kerzner‘s New World album gains momentum with the addition of yet another special guest appearance – Keith Emerson now joins an impressive cast which already includes Steve Hackett, Francis Dunnery, David Longdon, Nick D’Virgilio, Durga McBroom-Hudson and more…
24/07/14: The Sensational Francis Dunnery band have announced three shows on the East coast of the USA in September followed by a seven date UK tour in October. The shows will feature material from the new studio album, due out in October, as well as songs from throughout his career. Visit the TPA UK Prog GigGuide for all the UK dates.
22/07/14: Knifeworld release a static stream of the third track, Send Him Seaworthy, taken from The Unravelling. You can also read Jez Rowden’s review of the album HERE which also includes track-by-track insights from Kavus Torabi…
18/07/14: Looking ahead with Esoteric Recordings – next month sees re-mastered and re-issues from ABWH, Rick Wakeman, Matching Mole and Roger Ruskin Spear. Whilst September sees the newly re-mastered 2CD/DVD, Paper Charms, which gathers together all of PFM‘s BBC Radio & TV appearances. Includes the first ever release of the 1975 & 1976 BBC Radio One “In Concert” broadcasts and The Old Grey Whistle Test appearances. Other releases include John Kongos, Bakerloo, The Gasoline Band and Bill Nelson.
September also sees new material coming through Esoteric Antenna with releases with Tin Spirits’ – Scorch and Schnauser’s – Protein For Everyone. Later in the year look out for the third album from Fish On Friday along with Tony Patterson & Brendan Eyre’s Northlands album. See the full release schedule HERE.
17/07/14: Esoteric Antenna announce the release of Protein For Everyone from Bristol based Schnauser on 29th September 2014…
“Both the band and the album are a very quirky blend of pysch/prog/pop. Nominated for this years “Prog Awards” Schnauser really are in their element playing live and deserve to gain a much larger and wider based audience with this innovative and groovy album. Can Prog be groovy? Well with influences from early Soft Machine to Zappa , Caravan and the Bonzo’s – Schnauser can.”

14/07/14: Caravan have launched Pledge Campaign to raise funds for the release of the Live At RoSFest DVD.
12/07/14: Sparks will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of Kimono My House with a special one off show at London’s Barbican Centre on Friday, 19th December 2014.
“Ron and Russell will perform the landmark album in its entirety with the 35-piece Heritage Orchestra at the Barbican Centre in London on Friday, December 19th, 2014. In addition, the guys will also perform a tantalizing selection of newly orchestrated songs from their 22-album repertoire.”

10/07/14: Echo Us who signed a worldwide deal with the German label Dust On The Tracks (and distribution through SPV) back in March, have conformed their next studio album, II:XII, À Priori Memoriaé – the final album in the defacto-trilogy. The album will be out in early September throughout Europe and early October for the USA.
10/07/14: Ahead of the release of Engineers’ new album Always Returning, due to be released on 11th August, Kscope have offered a download and preview of Fight Or Flight, taken from the album.

09/07/14: French violinist, Jean-Luc Ponty, noted for his virtuoso solo work along with collaborations with John McLaughlin & Mahavishnu Orchestra and Frank Zappa, has revealed an new album with Stanley Clarke and Bireli Lagrene. Discussions also continue regarding his mooted album with Jon Anderson…
“A new acoustic trio project will be recorded in August 2014 for Impulse! (Universal) with Stanley Clarke on double bass, Gypsy guitarist Bireli Lagrene and JLP on violin. This new album will be released worldwide in early 2015, followed by concert tours. JLP is also discussing a new band collaboration with Jon Anderson, ex-singer from the mythical British band “Yes”. 07/07/14: and Pink Floyd confirm the new album release…
“Pink Floyd can confirm that they are releasing a new album, The Endless River, in October 2014. It is an album of mainly ambient and instrumental music based on the 1993/4 Division Bell sessions which feature David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright. The album is produced by David Gilmour with Phil Manzanera, Youth and recording engineer Andy Jackson. Work is still in progress, but more details to come at the end of the summer.”
07/07/14: Arthur Brown has announced a series of one man, intimate shows for 2015. Under the title of ‘An Evening With Arthur Brown 2015’ he will be telling his life story, have a Q&A session and most likely a few songs thrown in for good measure. “Arthur did a few shows like this in 2005/2006 when the Book by Polly Marshall came out.”

06/07/14: Magma continue their 45 year celebrations and new studio album, Rïah Sahiltaahk, released on 23rd September and followed by a series of twelve concerts at Le Triton, Rue Du Coq (France) during November. The band will also be appearing at this year’s Rock In Opposition Festival held at Maison De La Musique, Carmaux between 19th – 21st September. 05/07/14: Pink Floyd are set to release a new studio album in October under the title The Endless River and based around recording sessions in 1994 with Rick Wright. Read more on the TPA website HERE.
04/07/14: The Jon Lord website reveal that the Celebrating Jon Lord Concert recorded at Royal Albert Hall last April will be released on DVD in September this year. Read the TPA article HERE.
03/07/14: The never released fourth album from American jazz-rockers The Flock is to be released through Cleopatra Records on 13th July 2014. The album entitled, Heaven Bound – The Lost Album, features founding members Fred Glickstein (vocals & guitar), Ron Karpman (drums) and Jerry Smith (bass). The band released three studio albums in the early Seventies – The Flock (1969), Dinosaur Swamps (1970) and Inside Out (1975)…

02/07/14: Ant Phillips has signed with Esoteric Recordings with the announcement of a 5CD deluxe boxset anthology, drawing from his back catalogue as well as previously unreleased material. Harvest Of The Heart is scheduled for release in October 2014. Read the TPA article HERE
01/07/14: Yesterday, in a brief statement on the Kansas Facebook Page, the band reveal that Steve Walsh has resigned from the band and that his last performance will be on 16th August 2014 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Iowa. No further details are available at this moment in time.
