Filmed two years ago in Buenos Aires and during his nine date Wall Concerts, Roger Waters recorded the footage that would become The Child Will Fly video. The Brain Damage website reports:
Two years ago, Roger, who was in Buenos Aires performing a record breaking set of nine Wall concerts at the Estadio River Plate, chose the city to film the promo video for the song, which is called “The Child Will Fly”.
The theme song was intended to help raise awareness about the importance of early education as a tool for children, with financial and cultural projects hopefully opening a world of greater possibilities. The track features the collaboration with Roger of different international and Latin artists such as Shakira, Eric Clapton, Pedro Aznar and Gustavo Cerati, who have worked actively with Alas.
It was revealed late last year that Roger Waters was working on new material for a forthcoming solo album, although no details were available.
Speaking to Rolling Stone at that time Roger revealed that: “I finished a demo of it last night…” “It’s 55 minutes long. It’s songs and theater as well. I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s couched as a radio play. It has characters who speak to each other, and it’s a quest. It’s about an old man and a young child trying to figure out why they are killing the children.”
