Nad Sylvan has announced the release of his fifth solo album The Regal Bastard on the 5th July 2019. His third album for InsideOutMusic is the final part of the Vampirate trilogy he began on 2015’s Courting The Widow.

Nad comments: “This album is very coherent. It really does excite me, and I am sure my fans are gonna freak out when they hear it.

Work on The Regal Bastard began in August 2017; “I have had to take a number of breaks, though, from working on this album, due to other commitments. So, it’s never been a case of me devoting all of my time to the project. But what this has done is allow me to return to it refreshed after time away, and able to take a different perspective on it all.

Jonas Reingold plays bass on much of the album, and Nick D’Virgilio handles the drums. Sheona Urquhart, Jade Ell and Tania Doko contribute vocals, along with a big choir section.

16/04/2019: The Aaron Clift Experiment Announce New Band Line-Up

The Aaron Clift Experiment report that Tim Smith has decided to leave the band to pursue new musical directions, whilst Christopher Aboujaoude will be continuing his musical career outside of Austin.

The band comment: “Managing the change of two band members, let alone the entire rhythm section, isn’t easy, but we’re excited to announce that we found a bassist and a drummer who more than fill the big shoes left by Tim and Christopher. Please welcome Clif Warren (bass) and Chase Ozment (drums).

Clif Warren, from New Mexico, has been playing bass since 1986, recently performing in the Austin-based progressive rock band, Proud Peasant. Chase Ozment, a senior jazz performance major at the University of Texas at Austin, also plays drums with Big Wy’s Brass Band, Clusterfunk, and Cicadus.

12/04/2019: Astonishing debut from teenage Brazilian proggers – Stratus Luna

Stratus Luna

Stratus Luna is a band from São Paulo, Brazil, consisting of the four members Gustavo Santhiago (keyboards, flutes and sitar), Ricardo Santhiago (guitars), Gabriel Golfetti (bass and keyboards) and Giovanni Lenti (drums and percussion).

Stratus Luna (HD) by Stratus Luna

In 2007, brothers Gustavo and Ricardo with their cousin Giovanni, all very young at the time, played as a trio on various television programs aimed at children. Year after year, the sound of the band continuously evolved and improved, eventually converging to the current progressive style. In late 2017, bassist Gabriel joined the others to cap the formation, and introduce even more influences to the music, shaping the band’s current sound. In April 2019 they released their self-titled album on the Brazilian label MusicMagick, distributed and marketed internationally by MoonJune Music.

11/04/2019: Sonar’s The Bill Laswell Mix Translations to be released on vinyl

The Swiss quartet SONAR has quickly gained international reputation for creating a unique blend of forward-thinking instrumental music imbued with power, tension and emotional identity. With their slow-build approach to dramaturgy and avoidance of conventional forms, they focus on collective group efforts and a deeper kind of interaction amongst their members Stephan Thelen (guitar), Bernhard Wagner (guitar), Christian Kuntner (electric bass) and Manuel Pasquinelli (drums).

For their internationally acclaimed fourth album “Vortex” (RareNoiseRecords), Sonar made an unexpected move by adding the expressive, experimental and deeply emotional playing of US guitarist and producer David Torn to their precise and disciplined polyrhythmic groove tapestry, thus adding the yin to their yang.

For this new vinyl release, legendary producer, remixer and bass guitarist Bill Laswell remixed and reconstructed two tracks from “Vortex”, also adding electronics and his signature bass guitar.

The album will be released on 19th April 2019 and is available as a 12“ vinyl EP and as a 24 Bit download here: Sonar 7D Bandcamp & Sonar Bandcamp

01/04/2019: Lonely Robot Announce Special Under Stars Album Launch Event in Conjunction with Space Rocks

Lonely Robot have announced they are partnering with Space Rocks for a special launch event to celebrate the release of new studio album Under Stars – due out 26th April 2019.

The event will take place on the 23rd April at the Everyman Cinema in King’s Cross, London, and will see John Mitchell take part in a special Q&A session with Space Rocks co-founder Alexander Milas, discussing the influence of space and science fiction on his Lonely Robot trilogy of albums. This will be followed by a talk by Space Rocks partner and European Space Agency (ESA) Senior Advisor for Science & Exploration, Mark McCaughrean. The event will feature an exclusive advance playback of the new album in full, accompanied by special imagery inspired by the work of the European Space Agency.

John comments: “Space and science fiction permeate throughout the trilogy of Lonely Robot albums and with Space Rocks, I can’t think of better people to team up with to celebrate the release of the final part of the astronaut’s story. It should be a very special evening.” Space Rocks co-founder Alexander Milas adds: “As headliners of our inaugural Space Rocks event in London last year, Lonely Robot and John are the personification of that inexorable link between art, music, and the great beyond. His music is the perfect bridge between those worlds. Roll on the 23rd!

To obtain tickets for this special one-off event, head to www.spacerocksofficial.com to enter a draw and be in with a chance of attending.

Under Starsis the final part in the astronaut trilogy, and was recorded over an intensive month and a half period. This time I wanted to reference my love of 80s synthwave pop a little more – so beware the 808! The title is derived from the belief that we as humans spend far too much time not noticing the beauty around us and far too much time tethered to technology” – John Mitchell.
