Neal Morse will release his latest solo album Life And Times, through Radiant Records on 16th February 2018. A somewhat reflective and primarily acoustic album will be supported next year, when Neal plans to tour the US and Europe with some “absolutely solo” shows in cafes and small venues.
““I’ve come through a lot of difficult times and I’m in a fairly content place now,” comments Neal Morse. “You can feel that on some of the songs.” Much of this ‘acoustic-orientated, singer/songwriter’ album was written while he was travelling around the world on “The Road Called Home” tour in 2017, with some of the songs being inspired by the places he visited, while others are from spending time with his family..”

18/11/17: Landmarq and Tracy Hitchings part company
The band posted the following announcement on their Facebook Page: “It is with much regret that Landmarq announce they will be parting company with Tracy Hitchings, after 20 years as lead vocalist.
Whilst the band remains UK-based, Tracy has been living, and married, in Australia for the last three years. This has inevitably presented a range of logistical difficulties in keeping the band together and maintaining such a long-distance working relationship.
The band hoped that it would be possible to keep the existing line-up, and UK members have been working remotely with Tracy on new material for the next album. Unfortunately it has proved too difficult to make this work effectively and therefore the band has had to make the hard decision to move forward without her.
Landmarq is now actively seeking a new lead vocalist to join the band and become involved in the writing and recording of the next studio album and future gigs.
Tracy is concentrating on her solo material and successfully pursuing a variety of opportunities in her new homeland. The band wish her every success and happiness.”

15/11/17: Andy Tillison announces The Kalman Filter project
Andy Tillison reveals The Kalman Filter will be the title to be used for his electronic/ambient music, along with side projects with other musicians.
“The first album under this name is called “Drink Of The Wilderness” and it’s inspired by many happy days in all types of weather, wandering around a lonely part of the Yorkshire Dales by some reservoirs which have become more and more special to both Sally and myself. I’ll have more to say about these places and their stories in the next few days.
The music is, as with Murk & Fog rooted in German electronic tradition with occasional dark jazzy forays and the odd DJ technique cropping up here and there. I’ve gravitated a lot more to the “Pink” era of Tangerine Dream of late – the really early stuff they did before “Phaedra” defined them, and as such have used harshness and dissonance a lot more than the previous solo albums. And no – that does not mean I have neglected the fluidity of that classic “Virgin” period.”

11/11/17: Ulver release digital EP through Bandcamp
01. Echo Chamber (Room of Tears)
02. Bring Out Your Dead
03. The Power of Love
“The sad remains from our Caesarean banquet. Two songs we kind of left on the drawing board but resumed work on this summer. Additionally, a cover of a childhood favourite – one we actually started some twelve–thirteen years ago – from the time we first started thinking about making “pop” music. This EP was finalized in our new studio in the old town of Oslo in September, and sent off to Youth’s (Martin Glover and Michael Rendall) in London in October, for imperial sound quality. Mastered this week by The Bricoleur.”
10/11/17: New instrumental release from Tom Slatter
This album has been a long time in the making, with many of the tracks dating back to Tom’s university days. Most were never performed for their intended instruments – which included string quartet and solo harp – and lurked for many years in the depths of Tom’s hard drive, waiting for him to do something useful with them. Eventually he figured out what needed to be done – this wasn’t a collection of pop-inspired classical pieces – this was a rock album!
Enlisting the talents of Alun Vaughan (bass guitar) and Chrissie Caulfield (violin) Tom has realized this vision of layered, complex but tuneful noise, fitting neatly into the BEM instrumental zone also occupied by the likes of The Fierce And The Dead, The Brackish and The Bob Lazar Story.
”The songs on Murder and Parliament have been running around in my head for a decade or so” says Tom, “And I can’t wait for other people to hear them too”
David Elliott from BEM: “Murder and Parliament shows a very different side to Tom’s writing. The Slatter DNA is still there but the compositions are of a different and highly beguiling breed”

09/11/17: InsideOut Music announce new Steve Hackett DVD

Wuthering Nights was filmed at the Birmingham Symphony Hall during Steve Hackett’s recent, critically-acclaimed Genesis Revisited & Classic Hackett tour. 09/11/17: King Crimson re-issue Earthbound
King Crimson continue their re-issue series with Earthbound, originally released on the Island HELP label in the summer of 1972. The reissued album, the twelfth in the series, will be available as a 2-disc CD/DVD set and released on 17th November 2017. The line-up for Earthbound featured Robert Fripp (Guitar & Mellotron), Boz Burrell (Vocals & Bass), Mel Collins (Saxes & Flute) and Ian Wallace (Drums).

However, also included on the DVD of this release is the full performance from Summit Studios, captured on the same US tour in 1972, appearing in both new stereo & quadraphonic mixes, providing the only live surround recordings of this line-up.
This release also features 15 minutes of material not included on the original mail order only CD of Summit studios as issued by DGM in 2000. The DVD also features the Schizoid Men sequence from the Ladies of the Road live album & a transfer of a 1972 vinyl edition of the Earthbound LP.”

Last month Tiger Moth Tales released a single edit of Hygge, taken third studio album, The Depths Of Winter, scheduled for release later this month through White Knight Records. Today sees the release of the second, single edit, video this time around The Ballad Of Longshanks John.
The Ballad Of Longshanks John was co-written by Jamie Ambler, who also provides the voice overs and is bolstered by a live brass section conducted by Mark Wardle.
The storyline behind the track is taken from English folklore and the story of Robin Hood and the events leading to his death.
Peter says of the track: “The Ballad of Longshanks John is a musical setting of the folk tale of the events leading up to the death of Robin Hood. It tells of how Robin sought help from his cousin, a prioress, who offers to bleed him to cure his sickness, which was a common practice of the time.”
The Depths Of Winter will be released on 20th November 2017.

He would leave the band briefly in 2007 and finally called it a day following the recording of 2014’s Dressed In Voices. In 2011 Liam released his own solo album, A Treasure Of Well Set Jewels.

Intervals have premiered the brand new track By Far And Away exclusively with Prog.
The song will feature on Aaron Marshall’s upcoming album The Way Forward, which is scheduled for release on 1st December 2017.
Marshall says: “By Far And Away is one of my favourite tunes on the record. The song features the boy wonder, Owane, who actually played keys on the whole album. When the initial inspiration for the song struck me, I knew right away that I wanted to collaborate with him on this one and we had a blast.”
Intervals are currently on the road in the UK and later across Europe, with support provided by Nick Johnston and Polyphia.
03/11/17: We Like We release new track from forthcoming album
Danish ‘instrumental performance and sound quartet’ We Like We premiere, I’m Not For More!, a new track taken from their forthcoming studio album Next To The Entire, scheduled for release next month. You can listen to I’m Not For More! HERE on Soundcloud.
“Although classically trained, all four share a desire for exploring, experimenting and shaping a sound of their own, something which is truly present on this album.”
The band comments on the new track: “The opening track of our new album I’m Not for More unfolds itself like an endless floating mantra of repetitive vocal and violin melodies accompanied by a distorted cello drone and a whirling vibraphone. “I’m not for the record, I’m not for money, I’m not for the purpose, I’m not for more…. is a modern lullaby, a rejection of the neo capitalist society and the eternal aspiration for more.”

03/11/17: Von Hertzen Brothers stream War Is Over
To mark the release of their latest studio album Finland’s Von Hertzen Brothers have issued a stream of War Is Over, the title track from the album.
“The title song is a three part declaration of peace,” says Kie Von Hertzen. “The intro can be seen as the echo of the distant turbulent times and/or as a deep relief after years of distress. The middle part, which we call simply “the song” deals with the understanding of how peace can only be achieved here and now, in this very moment. There is no way to peace. Peace IS the only way.”
“With the tempo and the continuous transposing of the melody we try to leave the impression of how joyful the realisation of freedom can be. The song ends with a fanfare, which was recorded in 100 guitars stems. Finland celebrates its 100 years of independence this year, so it can be seen as our bow to those who fought to make our country free and independent!”
“There is this underlying texture throughout the album, which I see as a huge question mark,” says Mikko Von Hertzen. “What are we as humans doing to preserve a loving and kind world? Why are we fighting every day and blaming others for our problems?”
02/11/17: Godsticks release new lyric video for We Are Leaving
Godsticks’ guitarist & frontman Darran Charles explains how he sought inspiration for the song from witnessing the devastating effects addiction and depravation can have on families and neighbourhoods, and the experiences of those that have to stay and those who break away.
“Although not strictly autobiographical, the song is a reflection of my growing up on an estate that during my late teens/early twenties had become infiltrated with heroin and, by association, crime. A huge number of the people I grew up with became heroin addicts and although I wasn’t personally in danger of falling into that lifestyle (as I usually did the opposite of everyone else for some reason!) I could see how easy it was to fall into the clutches of addiction, especially when all those around you had fallen victims themselves.
However, many years later some of those who did manage to escape that environment were able to beat the addiction, and I think that kind of hope is reflected in the song.”
