Scheduled for release on 21st August 2015 – FdM commented on the release: “Side Effects started with a single track – a version of Pink Floyd’s ‘Echoes’ by The Soft Bombs; I tried to persuade the band’s main man Michael Padilla that I could split it over two sides of a 7″ single; but he wasn’t going to fall for that; then I found another group that didn’t know when to stop once the tapes had started and 18 months later, here I am with eight of them – with little in common except they’re all instrumentally-led (or entirely instrumental), they all have that ‘epic’ quality and they’re all, well, long.”

16/07/15: Steven Wilson – Vinyl compilation ‘Transience’ to be released in September
Featuring songs recorded between 2003-2015, Transience is a personally curated vinyl only introduction to the more accessible side of Steven Wilson’s output, to be released in September release (UK) to coincide with the second leg of the Hand. Cannot. Erase. tour.
Steven says: “In the past I mostly resisted requests from record labels to compile or anthologise, but this time I enjoyed the challenge of trying to sequence an album that would act as a more easygoing introduction to my music. These are mostly the shorter song-based tracks (some represented by edits), so it’s perhaps the ideal way to introduce a friend or partner to SW music without the more “difficult” stuff getting in the way. For once I have also given in to narcissism and put my face on the cover, without a gas mask or anything else obscuring it!”

10/07/15: Strawbs Electric Band tour postponed
It was announced yesterday that the Strawbs electric shows from 17 July to 1 August 2015 have to be postponed after Dave Cousins had a serious fall. In a statement on the band’s website:
“He was taken in to QEQM Hospital in Margate on 16 June after choking on a cup of tea outside his house. This caused him to lose consciousness and smash his head on the pavement. He was discharged after this on 19 June. Unfortunately this accident dislodged a kidney stone. On 23 June he was admitted to K&CH Hospital. He was operated on the next day under general anaesthetic and discharged on 26 June. He is recovering well, but is not yet fit enough to take the stresses and strains of a band tour.
We are all disappointed not to be able to see the electric band again in July/August. However, I know all Strawbs fans will understand that this decision is the right one to make sure that Dave is able to recuperate fully.
The intention is for the gigs to be rebooked for sometime in 2016.”
