31/03/15: Christina Booth reveals The Light video
Taken from her second solo album, The Light, on 14th March 2015. The Light video follows on from the Disappeared video which was released earlier in March.
Chrsitian told Prog Mag: “The Light is a song about man’s constant search for enlightenment – how we seem to need to know that there is something else after we are gone from this life.
“The video represents our search for the truth and the idea that we all have a ‘guardian angel’ leading us through dark times into the light.”
She adds that the album explores the concept of coming to terms with mortality and continues: “On a personal level, it’s letting out the last few years of frustration, guilt and anger at losing those closest to me.
“But ultimately it represents our capacity to carry on – no matter what life throws at us.”

The English guitarist and songwriter John Renbourn has died aged 70 at his home in Hawick in the Scottish Borders. Best known for his work with the folk group Pentangle, he had been on tour with the guitarist and singer Wizz Jones.
Renbourn was due to play at the Ferry in Glasgow on Wednesday night but colleagues became concerned when he failed to turn up. Police found him at his home on Thursday morning, 26 March, where it is thought he had died from a heart attack.
John Renbourn, left, performing in Pentangle, with Danny Thompson, Jacqui McShee, Terry Cox and Bert Jansch at the Cambridge folk festival in 1969.
Renbourn’s manager, Dave Smith, who worked with him for about 25 years, described him as a “delight”. “He was just larger than life. Game for anything. He was just finishing off a tour with Wizz Jones – and was looking forward to the next. He was a great teacher – he was always putting himself down as a teacher and running weekend workshops all over Europe, where he would have students come and learn from him.”

23/03/15: A new version of Spectral Mornings is to be released in aid of charity
The Esoteric Antenna label are to release and a new version of Spectral Mornings in aid of the Parkinson’s Society UK on 27th April 2015
The project was the brainchild of ROB REED (of Magenta & Kompendium) who explains; “I’ve always loved the piece Spectral Mornings by Steve Hackett, (the classic instrumental from his 1979 album of the same name). It had a great guitar melody and thought it would be amazing to re-record with the addition of some lyrics. I contacted David Longdon from Big Big Train who I wanted to sing it. David wrote the lyrics and we did a demo, which sounded fantastic.
I also had the idea of it being a duet, so we asked Christina Booth from my band Magenta to sing it. We then had to play the demo to Steve Hackett to make sure he liked it, which thankfully he did. He kindly agreed to play guitar on the track, which was wonderful. I really think we have been respectful to the original piece and hopefully brought something new to it as well”.
Rob adds; “We were also lucky to have one of the best rhythm sections to play on the song, namely Nick Beggs on bass (of Steven Wilson’s band) and Nick D’Virgilio on drums (from Spock’s Beard). As it was a one off project we really wanted the proceeds form the sales to go to a charity. Myself, Christina and Steve Hackett have all lost close family members to Parkinson’s disease, so we decided to donate all the proceeds from the sale to Parkinson’s Society UK, who are funding research into a cure for this terrible affliction.”

As bassist, Porcaro appeared on such albums as Isolation (1984), Fahrenheit (1986), Mindfields (1998) and Through the Looking Glass (2002). Source: Rolling Stone.

10/03/15: The Tangent release video trailer for new album
We reported last month that Andy Tillison would release a new Tangent album, A Spark In The Aether – The Music That Died Alone Volume Two. Read the article HERE on TPA. Joining Andy Tillison (Keyboards) will be Jonas Reingold (Bass), Theo Travis (Sax & Flute), Luke Machin (Guitar) and Morgan Ågren (Drums).
Today sees the release of The Tangent‘s Lyric Video of the title track…
Andy had this to say about the track:
“A Spark In The Aether” is the title track of the new album by The Tangent. In many ways it’s a bit of a rallying cry to people to keep open minds about newer music in a world where remasters and re-issues are more eagerly anticipated than new material. But it’s a hugely optimistic piece that’s primarily about keeping a young spirit as you go through life. The song was premiered on the 2014 tour and was filmed by several audience members who uploaded their clips of it to Youtube without knowing that we would use their clips to make our video. Of course it’s an alternative version of the studio recording you’re hearing as the soundtrack. We wanted to make a video that showed the real energy of the band on stage, something that has always been important to the group who have never set much store by big light shows or video projections. “We do it with our bodies” is the philosophy. And what the fans do with our music, we use and give back to them.”

Fotheringay was the group formed by Sandy Denny and Trevor Lucas in January 1970, just weeks after she left Fairport Convention on the eve of the release of the landmark Liege & Lief. Denny and Lucas recruited drummer Gerry Conway who had played alongside Lucas in Eclection before adding bass player Pat Donaldson and guitarist Jerry Donahue. Continue reading HERE on TPA

06/03/15: Vocalist Kim Seviour leaves Touchstone
In a brief Statement the band revealed the singer Kim Seviour would leave the band and take her final bow at Hard Rock Hell on Friday 20th March 2015.
It is with regret that we announce the departure of Kim Seviour from Touchstone.
Kim has decided to leave due to ongoing medical issues. Here are a few words from her…”I’m sure that this will come as a shock to many people, and for that I’m very sorry. As many of you will know, I’ve dealt with a health condition, M.E for the last five years of being in Touchstone. The condition and the lifestyle changes that it has resulted in, including a move cross-country, have made it impossible for me to commit to Touchstone in the way that it truly deserves. I need to take time to concentrate on my health and getting myself back to peak condition. Who knows what lies ahead after. I love my boys to bits and we’ve shared many amazing adventures, which would have been impossible without the support of incredible music lovers, and friends such as yourselves. I wish the guys the very best and know that they will continue to make awesome music, which I fully support all the way. For those who can make it, I would love to see you and share a drink at HRH, which will be my last Touchstone gig. Thank you so much for everything, I love you all. God bless xxx”
All the band fully accept this situation and support her decision and we know that you will join us in wishing Kim all the very best for the future. We will still be in very close contact. It’s been an amazing journey for all of us and we sincerely appreciate all the fantastic support from our fans and friends, given to us over the years.
Kim will be leaving after our performance at Hard Rock Hell on Friday 20th March, so if you want to get a last chance to see this lineup, it’s a trip to North Wales…!!!
As for the future of Touchstone, there are no immediate plans for a new release; the band is currently on indefinite hold and remaining members will pursue other projects.
At some time in the future the Touchstone phoenix may arise again…
