Fish forced to cancel first UK dates
UPDATE | 04/05/2014: Sadly the gig at The Robin on 5th May has had to be rescheduled for 8th December…
“I regret to have to tell you that we have had to cancel the first shows in Sheffield (tomorrow), Liverpool (Saturday) and Durham (Sunday) as my guitarist Robin Boult has contracted chickenpox and is too ill to perform.
He arrived here at the studio on Monday and was obviously unwell. On Tuesday he started to come out in a serious rash which has worsened in the last days. He is still infectious but luckily all the rest of the band and crew have already had chickenpox and are relatively safe. There is however a potential risk to members of the general public who, like Robin, have not contracted the disease before and with adults the infection cannot be treated lightly.
He’s been unable to play for longer than an hour at rehearsals and is generally exhausted. I have decided to give him some rest in the next days and we are aiming at the gig at the Robin in Bilston on Tuesday as the first show on this UK tour. This is obviously dependent on how much Robin recovers in that time but we are remaining confident that we can get back on track by then.
The 3 shows in Sheffield, Liverpool and Durham will be rescheduled for December when we return from the 3 month mainland European tour and I will post details as soon as I have them regarding ticket validity or returns.
I apologise to anyone who has been let down by this situation and in particular to anyone out there who has made previous travel and hotel arrangements but I am left with no other choice at present than to cancel these shows.”
